When I finished reading this brilliant article, I experienced a profound shock when I saw only one person had clicked the like button. I found this from Erik Hoel's recommendation and it was a fascinating read.

Why did I like this article so much? You described it yourself - “It was one of those delightful moments when someone consciously articulates something you have only subconsciously felt.”

This sentence is particular captures the feeling of the effect our immersion in the digital world produces - "there had grown up an invisible yet palpable wall between me and physical experience."

Excellent article. Thanks for writing.

Thank you for your writing, it resonated with several things I have had on my mind for the last years. I wholeheartedly agree with your exeperience with entertainment technology making the world "flatter". When we get locked in to these "flat" spaces, it seems hard to do any thinking or experiencing worthy of note.

I have been nurturing the thought that shifting from "spectator" to "participant" in the world is one of the key cultural tasks for our age, and I think it seems to be true at several levels of intrepretation. From our relation to the broader "natural" world to our society and perhaps even to our own lifes. Perhaps you would agreee.

Lastlly this quote hit home:

"Software has eaten the world, but, more disconcertingly, it has also eaten our minds."

Again, thanks!
